Volunteers Support Our Troops
Bob Hope USO volunteers are the heart and soul of the organization. We rely on our volunteers to ensure that our troops are cared for and supported 365 days a year, throughout Southern and Central California. The USO mission is to strengthen American’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. Within the community of each center, 700 dedicated volunteers turn our mission into action every single day by serving as an extension of the family our troops leave behind to serve and protect our country. The Bob Hope USO Volunteer Program provides an opportunity for the local residents of each center to show their appreciation of the sacrifices our men and women in uniform make on a daily basis.
Collectively, our volunteers donate over 106,301 hours of volunteer service each year throughout each of our centers and dozens of military instillations across Central and Southern California. We are fully reliant on our dedicated roster of local volunteers to work shifts daily at Bob Hope USO as they provide a sense of home for our troops where they can relax, connect with loved ones, and enjoy a warm meal. Our centers make a huge difference for service members and military families who often travel and endure airport layovers of 12 hours or more between flights. Without the USO, our troops and their families would be confined to terminal areas without amenities and a non-cost nourishing meal, provided by a volunteer force dedicated to showing them the support of the American people.
Beyond our Bob Hope USO Airport Centers, our volunteers provide support throughout the community at deployments, family days, homecomings and community celebrations, and as a result, the Bob Hope USO is known as a vital service provider for our troops in the region. Our volunteers help by furnishing an array of engaging entertainment programming for military families, including on-base family movie nights including popcorn, refreshing drinks and treats, as well as entertainment for military children. Our volunteers are the ‘Force Behind the Forces
